eight days a week (and then some): an etsy shop profile

there’s nothing like a new calendar- so full of hope and fill-in-the-blank promise.   this year, i’m going for an upgrade.  these calendars from snug studio sure beat the freebies that come in the mail from the local real estate agent.  never mind that i just admitted that i mark the daily passage of time with [...]

raindrops...raindrops & more raindrops

it had been a while since i’d done any new artwork to print on my tees and accessories. last august, i was lucky enough to get some time away from home and head off to guerneville -a riverside town just 25 minutes from where i live. while sitting on the patio of the river lane [...]

making old things new again: new totes!

picture it…the venice beach boardwalk…2001…i am sitting on my vintage yellow brocade blanket surrounded by my art–little paintings of birds, women with mod hair-do’s, guitars and owls on pieces of scrap wood. tourists wavered up and down the boardwalk hunting for a souvenir to bring home from los angeles. i’d heard, “oh, this is so [...]

here comes santa claus: christmas craft gone wrong

here comes santa claus: christmas craft gone wrong

we were kicking around the idea of doing a regretsy-style post on unfortunate examples of christmas crafting- and i realized a prime example was hanging on my pantry door.  amongst all the kitschy holiday deco i inherited from my mom (like this adorable little elf) was this crazy santa made out of a mop head.   [...]

all dogs go to heaven: an etsy shop profile

i’m usually weirded out by doggy birthday parties and ladies that trundle around with pomeranians in baby strollers.  however, i’m not against surprising the fur-baby in my life with something special once yearly- these holiday ornaments from just puff are on my  list.   dogs work hard- always acting like you’re the only (and best) person [...]

no rest for the wicked: lucky jackson's 365 day project

sometimes i want to draw the shades, curl up with a box of mini-doughnuts and call it a day.  sometimes the sun is stubborn and stays behind the clouds.  while i’m wallowing in a delicious sea of sugar and saturated fat- there’s still someone hard at work.  lucky jackson’s commitment to stitch a daily masterpiece [...]

it's five o' clock somewhere: an etsy shop profile

i’m a sucker for a craft that restores the former decorative glory to an item destined for the trash can.  these “rescued” vintage plastic doily clocks (created by brenda rose) fit the bill.  this isn’t just a time minder- it’s made with a teeny bit of history that may have sat happily for years in [...]
