camping collage of some photos from the trip!
my life long dream of going camping was fulfilled last weekend as i rang in my 35th birthday in big sur at the riverside campground and cabins. so much good food, all cooked on a camping stove or in cast iron skillet over an open flame: beef roast, linguine and clams, mexican breakfast burritos, pancakes, potato and ham egg hash, portobello burgers and cheese plates a plenty. little boys with their father hunting for crawdads in the river after sundown. lots of snoring from nearby tents. game playing & whiskey drinking. clean bathrooms & showers (my novice apprehensive camping sensibilities were grateful). laughing until my cheeks hurt. smores. smores and more smores. guitars & harmonicas. long talks and short walks. big bummer that i didn’t get a group photo of everyone to commemorate the start of my new (hopefully) birthday camping tradition. i already have my tent for next year picked out…hello! coleman weather master. feeling awfully lucky to be surrounded by good friends & food to start out this new year.
there was an awesome rickety bridge across the river from one side of the campground to the other, bummer! it was closed!
fancy snacks on the river
nina was a good little camper
the “sunroof” view while laying in our tent
painty pants and the morning fire and coffee
apples to apples: in the top 5 games ever!
they had cabins there too for people who are even bigger camping babies than i am!
this horse sweater gets a lot of attention
after we cleaned everything up, empty campground =
